Stupid Petco........

i was at petco and discovered that they had cardinal tetras. they looked to be in good health and had asked for them and the lady said they were under observation so she couldnt sell them to me but she couldnt tell me why or how long they were and how much longer they will be under observation. then about 10 min later she sold a goldfish that was coverd in ich . how stupid can people be.........

every single tank in the petco here except the saltwater tanks are under observation. They put the signs up right after I bought my German Blue Rams.

they dont even have signs on the tank which they should.....a lot of the sw fish look like #### and they are still selling them. all of the goldfish are in very poor health and they are still selling them. the tropical fish that are healthy and have no dead or dying ones in the tank are under observation. makes absolutely no sence........it should be the other way around.

You should have said well how come you sold a goldfish covered in ich but your not selling healthy fish.

I've seen the same thing at my lps. Tanks under observation that have healthy fish, and sometimes they r medicating tanks that healthy fish. Then in the two tanks next to it there have been fish covered in ick for a month and in the other one there r pelcs that have had a swimbladder disease for even longer. They will sell u the sick ones but not the ones that look healthy.

Sometimes the healthy fish looking fish that they have in and are under observation are what they have just got in....... I found that out when I went into my LFS and saw that they had those horrid dye injected fish in a tank quarantined which I thought was strange as all looked really healthy (would never buy)..... Then two weeks on I went in again and saw the exact same fish in the same tank still under quarantine but this time all covered in cotton wool type stuff and looking really sick so you can't be too sure........

I still think it is wrong though for them to sell fish with ich especially to people that are starting out with fish! My LFS tends to remove dead or dying fish and dispose of them, sometimes they feed them to the reptiles they have..... Other times when they have too many fry they feed them to they're marine fish which I found strange........
