stuff on wood

i have a piece of wood in my tank, and there is like a reddish coating of something. its hard to explain, kinda seems like algae, but its reddish and when i touch it its kinda slimy.

anyone know what it is and if its good/bad or what?

Could be brown algae, meaning that your not getting enough light?

i doubt it, cause i have 2.7 wpg in a 46g, and i really only started noticing it when i moved up from .7 wpg to 2.7 wpg

I have no idea but imo anything slimy is not good,
take it out and scrub it them microwave ot to kill whatever
spores may be left than put it back.
