Hello all!

Thx for all the help so far.

So this is my problem. :(

I have plants in my tank, yes the real ones...hehe.

Since the start ive had problems with the plants by them dying or dropping leaves more than they should and eventually dropping leaves faster than they can grow them. :/ Some leaves start becomming transparent and then just rot off or starts to get yellow ( Shortage of Iron but fixed that problem now. )

I have 1 plant thats at the back of my tank that sent runners all over but now also just stopped growing.

What I have done in my 60 liter tank ( 15 Gal )

- Removed Carbon out of filters and replaced with spongy filter material.
- Stopped using salt in my tank.
- Added 40 Watts of lightning. ( 2.6 WPG )
- Removed snails and re-homed as they ate some plants.
- Added Custom C02 at 1 bubble per second going into the filter and disolving like that.
- Started to add Fertz with iron and all the good stuff.
- Started using Liquid Carbon source as well.
- Last but not least made sure no fish are plant murderers.

This all was done about 6 days ago.

After all this I am yet to see any major improvements. Its just so hard getting this stuff to grow.

Now what ells will cause this issue?
I have quit allot of current in the tank but the plants are not being moved to much so that they will break or get hurt.I belive naturally all plnts will encounter water movement. ( Fish love the current and spend hours swimming against it. )

Im afraid if nothing new pops up I can try, im going to do the rocky look.

Any ideas will be welcome?

THX :D

Plants: ( Dont know names )

At back I have something the LFS called Amazon Grass ( Long leaved plant with leaves going to surface of water. ) Then I have almost tree like plant in front left with Big leaves. Then also have some of that grassy looking plants that spiral upwords. One plant that I think is a amazon sword as it very central rooting and open like a rose. ( Sorry about not knowing the names. )

Well I got the plants at LFS in my same area so the water should be ok.

I stopped testing water hardness long time ago as I felt its a waist of money for me.

Water stats:

PH - 7.5 ( Constant )
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate about avarage of 15 - 20 PPM

I have 3 Floresent bulbs.

Hagen AquaGlo 15W - 4500K
Hagen FloraGlo 15W - 18000 K
Biolux Fish Colors and Plants. 10 Wat. - 4500 K ( Not sure. )

Why you ask?

Im leaning towords water movement or is it not such a big deal?

Thx allot!

Well that is older photos....just the light changed.hehehe.

Well let me put it this way i dont fully understand oxygen comming into a tank.I have 2 power filters. One just runs into teh water and makes little movement on the surface.Otehr power filter I have lifted up more and the water is hitting the surface a good speed taking allot of bubbles with it?Is this ok?

The tank cannot go fuller as it is now.

Ok so I droped filter to original high and now both power filters is just causing a small current and the ripple movement on the surface. Also set filters to minimum as they will still give me a good turnover rate.

Just hope the fish dont all RIP when i get home tonight. :S hehehe

As for what can notice now is that in the leaves of some of the plants there are small little green dots, very dark green.Wasnt there before. Is this algi?I dont mind a little bit of it I just want my plants to start growing as they should.hehe...

Thats definitely algae. Suggest you cut down your lighting. Keep only
the Hagens for around 10hours per day. Stop the liquid carbon source for the moment but continue the DIY CO2.

Wait for 2 weeks and you should see the difference.

What fertiliser are you using? I use API's Leafzone with every water change.

What is the substrate? Is it gravel? Check if the plants have healthy roots. Do you clean the gravel thoroughly during water changes?

Hi.

Im buying my self some Horthwort Floating grass tonight.

According to my reading its very good in your tank, provides oxygen, keep algi under control ect..Laso have pregnant sword that just dont wanto drop.

Im using Machem Florish Fertz that contains all teh stuff you need as stated on teh bottle.Rich in iron as you can smell it.

Im using fine gravel and the roots of the plants seems ok, most of them is stuck in teh gravel and growing through UGF.

Will stop using liquid C02 for now.

I have heard a lot about plants not growing well with UGFs. I dont use UGFs so I cannot comment on this.

You might wish to research the subject.
