This is a continuation of this post. Here is what's going on:
We had 3 platies, some of their cute little fry, and 5 harlequin rasboras in our 20 US gallon. About one week ago, we noticed a bit of white growth on one of our younger rasbora's lower lip. A more accurate description would be like he has something stuck to his lip. It definetly doesn't look "fluffy" though, despite what that ealier post might say.
So we took this guy and put him in to our 5.5 gallon quarentine tank and started treating that quarentine tank it with Mardel's Maracyn. The next day, we noticed a white patch (not growth) between the eyes of the other younger rasbora. We immediatly plopped that rasbora in to the quarentine as well. Began treating the main 20 gallon tank with Mardel's Maracyn too.
So we had two sick rasboras in our 5.5 gallon quaretnine tank, and 3 platies, maybe some fry left, and 3 rasboras in the 20 gallon. Both tanks were being treated with Maracyn: the quarentine for 5 days and the 20 gallon for 4 days. (This made the tanks very, very cloudy) After this, we plopped in Jungle Fungus Clear tablets into both tanks as a follow up. (This made the tanks very green.) That was about 4 days ago.
Meanwhile, the original sick rasbora with the thing on his lip has shown only a very little improvement. It is still there. The second sick rasbora has recovered completely it seems.
Now, today, we look into the 20 gallon tank and see one of our other rasboras with an identical thing on his lip!! EEEEEP!! What is this?
Has anyone heard of lymphocystis?
The water stats at the beginning of this ordeal were 0/0/5. Now it is 0/0/15.
The rasboras that are in the quarentine tank were new additions. Left them in the quarentine initially for about a week then threw them in the main tank.
Any ideas guys? Please, any help would be appreciated. Rasboras are acting completely normally.
Here is a picture of the initially sick rasbora:
