Hi,

I wonder if anyone can identify this white blob/growth on one of my Cory's. It does not appear to be furry and it's symetrical, i.e. it's mirrored on the other side of his dorsal fin. The only thing I can think is that it is some kind of fungus in which case I was going to try treating with Interpet #8 anti fin-rot and fungus but I'd like a second opinion before I do.

Apart from the obvious white blob he seems fine.

Tank stats are all normal, i.e. PH 7.6, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate approx 20ppm and I did a 20% water change last night.

Here's a picture...

Thanks,

Paul.

Corys are more prone to bacterial infection then parasites, does the blob look like it filled with liquid.
Just seen the pic i would treat it is bacterial.
Can you issolate the sick fish you will need a bacterial med like myxazin, or anti internal bacteria med by interpet, and some pimafix.

Thanks Wilder,

I've got a bottla of Myxazin so I'll give that a go, I've also got a spare 10g tank so I'll see if I can quickly set it up as a hospital tank, just need to figure out some cycled filtration.

One question, should I add Pimafix as well as the Myzaxin?

Poor chap, he's going to hate being away from his mates.

Paul.

Both meds should be fine as long as you have alot of aeration, good luck.

All better now, it pretty much cleared up after 3 days but I continued the medication (Myxazin + Pimafix) to the end of the course just to be sure.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the advice Wilder.

That good news, keep an eye on him, just to make sure it has gone, good luck.
