Hi All,

I've got a live plant it my tank (can't remember what it was called) and recently its started to get green and brown marks on its leaves. The plant seems to be growing ok and the stuff just rubs off but i just want to know what it is

Alge maybe?

Here are a couple of shots. The first shows the brown and you can see the bright green on the second.

its brown diatomic algae :) its usually associated with new tanks, btw i have the same plant as he does... what is that plant ? bacopa something ? i cant compare it properly with the pics i got from the net

its a form of algae i had it growing on some of my plants but recenlty my ghost shrimp have been eating it and the plants are nice and green again!!

Thanks all

Is this anyhting i need to worry about? or anything i could do to get rid of it? I've got a light on about 10 hours a day and the tank is about 4/5 metres from a window

Nothing to worry, as the algae is not much. Get a cleanup crew like shrimp, otos to eat the algae. As long as the tank is not getting direct sunlight it should be alright.
