hello all you bolivian ram experts, im not sure where to post this message because the situation involves a ram and a black skirt tetra. btw i dont think im going to ever use scientific names because i am not capable of retaining them at this point in my life so lets all talk a common tongue. so heres the scoop: i have a bolivian ram of course among other fish, but one type of fish, the black skirt tetra in particular seems to be quite attracted to her. i think the tetra is male simply because hes doing sooo much dancing and work trying to get the ram's attention. but you see he's pretty big and roundish so i dont know maybe hes a she? either way all day this guy wiggles around the ram around and around never nipping or anything like that. just zooming in and wiggling right next to him. i mean i have seen fish fight before and this just doesnt look like aggression. alas poor tetra! tis love unrequited since the ram just goes about his business. i am just wondering if this is uncommon or even possible.

thanks

allyn

Is the black skirt riding solo in your tank? If so I'd say he's just desperate for the security of other fish and you should get him some friends.

oh good point, though i do have one other black skirt tetra, smaller, occasionally chased by the larger one. as far as other species there are 4 buenos aries, 2 scarlet kribensis, 1 pleco 1 dwarf gourami.
