Strange Plant Growth?

Wondering exactly what this is thats on my plant -

- they look thorny but they're soft so it make me think roots. The plant naturally has been leaning over to the side since I put it in but has started growing these strange whispy bits on the side.

Anyone have any idea what this is and/or the name of the plant so I can research it further.

it looks like a Hygrophila, and they are roots growing. It is quite normal
