Strange Convict Coloration

I've been eyeballing a juvie convict in a lfs, because of his weird coloration. I was wondering if anyone has any idea if it is a common coloration or what.

The body of the fish is the same as any 'ol convict, but the fins have a molted look to them. On a normal convict, the fins are a basic grey color, kinda transparent, but on this one, it has a grey base and a lots of black splotches. I have half a mind to just buy it and see what happens, but I don't want a small aggressive fish in any of my tanks.

If anyone else needs any more clarification, I might be able to snap a picture of the little thing next time I'm there (he's been there for about a month anyway) or I might just buy him for a bit and grow him out some. I'm sure I can make room for him somewhere.

EDIT: just wanted to clarify that this fish is not a mix between a pink and a reg convict. Those fish usually have this type of coloration, but this one is just the regular barred type.

Picture would be nice, if it was me I'd get him anyway, I have a soft spot for cons... Though depending on how hard cons are to move on, you might be stuck with it if you don't like it for quite some time.

Yeah, that's the problem that I have. I want to get it, but if I decide to get rid of it eventually, I never will be able to. Next time I'm at the store, I'll bring the camera.

my convict has unormal coloration
I have kept any cons and breeded many too
but this one is beutiful with blue green teal and orange-red not counting the orange belly on her

Thanks for that juan. Those cons are exactly like the one in the lfs. Finally, someone satisfied my curiosity about this weird coloration.

Haha, no thanks. I'm not into convicts really. My real passion is strange, oddball fish and the coloration of the convict at the lfs caught my eye and I thought it was something "rare" and that is the only reason why I took interest. The type of cichlids I do like, though, are Geophagus species and the like.

Yep, my shop ahs them ones....think theyre called Calico Convicts...just the same as commons in personallity and needs IMO i prefer the normal ones!
