Strange Cat

Rescued this cat from an unwanted tank.

I have no idea what type of cat it is and am concerned about it's lack of fins and skin condition.

Hope the picture allows advisers to see the stated it's in?

its a synodontis catfish unsure of species as i cant quite make out enough detail not many have the body plate on top so easily seen ( by my recollection)

Thanks for helping to define what it is - I can now read up on it's needs.

As to it's health it seems to have large white patches and now fins left - they're just stubby growths. When it swims it seems to struggle because of this. Hopefully this picture will show more than the previous one.

I would start a course of Melafix straight away, also try and give it a good nutritious varied diet until it is recovered.
Good on you for rescuing it.
I hate people that let fish get in this condition, pop back and put a hammer through the tank as long as there are no more fish suffering.
There should be a law against this sort of thing.

Thanks for the advice.

As for the tank - it was dismantled cleaned and I intend to use it for my next project. All fish inside were given new homes.

Hopefully I'll post a before and after photo of this odd little catfish once treated.
