Hi

Hopefully this is pretty simple....

Im having to medicate my tank (popeye - Interpet Anti Inter Bacteria) the instructions say remove the carbon for 7 days....

Do I store the carbon then put it back in the filter (Fluval 104) or just replace it with new when the time comes ?

If I can store it do I store it dry or in some of the tanks water that I have it in at the moment.

The carbon isnt that old and these are the first 5 fish Ive actually bought (new tank - Fishless cycle - 5 x Balck Widows)

Straight from the off one fish looked unwell and now he has a bulging eye. Ive checked the water chemistry

Amonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 40

Ph approx. 7

So im assuming that its something the fish already had as the others seem fine.

I would toss the carbon and replace with a new one. If it was in contact with bacteria, etc, why risk it? Besides, a new insert is only a few bucks, right? SH

I agree, once carbon drys out you can't use it again anyway.
