Stopping The Sand!

How is this happening. Do you have the intake too low to the bottom, or are your fish wafting it around like my BN Plec.?

yeah my 2 LOO1's big and makes the sand go everywhere..

i aint got a stocking

yeah tights lol  would it be better to take att the sand out and leave it plain, as i only have rockery

Wrap the filter intake with a stocking...? :dunno: (Sheer pantyhose works well).

Wouldn't this stop the filter doing its cleaning job, so instead of larger debris getting stopped by the filter floss, it will jus get stopped by the tights/stockings and stay in the tank?

Just wondering.. ;)

Uhhh. I'm under the presumption that tights are thicker versus stockings. I don't know what you guys call stockings over there  But I'm referring to the really flimsy one. If it's thick then it may affect the suction power of your filter.

stockings and tights are all different thicknesses over here FKNM. lol

You buy the thickness you want.

tights are a one piece pants and stockings alternative (not as sexy)

I stopped wearing them years ago, when my wife called me a sick wierd little man. lol

ONLY JOKING. mmmm stockings

If its an internal filter attach it further up from the sand (I have no problems, even with 4 pitbulls forever creating sandstorms)

the intake is further up but it still pulls a hell load of sand in a time.

to an extent, the tights will act as a sort of pre filter so would have to be cleaned off fairly regularly. Just be like the first layer of sponge that traps big bits of waste.

look for something like 10 denier and you should be ok :good:

thanks but i dont have a clue what a 10 denier is lol  , anyway ill take the sand out and if anything happens untill i get the gravel ill put the sand back and i have to put up with cleaning the filters every week  tanks again :good: oh and i might post picys of my fish later.

if you go look at tights, they'll all have a denier rating on them, it refers to how thick they are, you want roughly 10..... it'll help if you get some or have to ask a girl to get them for you ;)

To put it into perspective, Nora Batty wears 6 million denier, and a bank robber would wear about 10 denier over his head. So the way it works is, a bank robber needs to see out, and you would't want to see Nora Batty's legs.

If your from the states, 1. your up early, 2. you will have no idea who Nora Batty is, and for that I apologise.
