how can u stop sand going into the filters?

Wrap the filter intake with a stocking...?(Sheer pantyhose works well).
Uhhh. I'm under the presumption that tights are thicker versus stockings. I don't know what you guys call stockings over thereBut I'm referring to the really flimsy one. If it's thick then it may affect the suction power of your filter.

Wouldn't this stop the filter doing its cleaning job, so instead of larger debris getting stopped by the filter floss, it will jus get stopped by the tights/stockings and stay in the tank?
Just wondering..

to an extent, the tights will act as a sort of pre filter so would have to be cleaned off fairly regularly. Just be like the first layer of sponge that traps big bits of waste.
look for something like 10 denier and you should be ok![]()
, anyway ill take the sand out and if anything happens untill i get the gravel ill put the sand back and i have to put up with cleaning the filters every week
tanks again
oh and i might post picys of my fish later.
