Hi,

My Betta Fish Stopped eating after I put him in a new bigger tank. I bought new mini acqurium couple days ago and moved my Betta fish into the new acqurium. Now when I put food in the tank, it looks at it and just ignores it.

It is active and moving around but just won't eat anything. It hasn't eaten anything in last 24 hrs.

What should I do?

Thanks,

Hi. The same thing happened to my Betta Calcifer when I moved him into half-a-gallon smaller of a tank and he wouldn't eat. Someone told me Betta's are extremely tempermental and will pout at the slightest change - unfortunately, mine died of internal parasites. :( Where did you get yours from?

Bettas generally don't like change. Many bettas refuse to eat when you bring them home from pet stores, sometimes even for weeks. Just keep offering him food and he'll eat eventually when he's hungry. As long as he's otherwise healthy, it's nothing to worry about. :) Like KJ said, he's just pouting.

Indeed, bettas are good at putting up hunger strikes. Many of mine have when I first got them. One of the ones I got about 3 months ago, Lucy, wouldn't eat anything for about a week and a half, until she got too hungry and finally ate.

I think they just like to scare us, and make us buy them different types of food to spoil them with when they have realized they can't win. :D
