Just been given a 13 gallon hexagon tank. I know it depends on the type of fish but would like some sort of guide to how many fish it will hold Thanks in advance.

Some livebearers like platys, guppys, swordtails, tetra, harlequins, bottom feeders, or the panda cory.

About 5-8, 1.5-2 inch fish such as platies, guppies, small, non-nippy tetras and rasboras, cory catfish, small gouramies and some of the smallest, peaceful loaches. Obviously, you need to also consider their behaviour and whether or not they are territorial, aggressive or schooling, social species, whether or not they are compatible with your other selection of fish and of course you need to make sure you are calculating based on adult sizes.

Thanks for your help.got my eyes on some plecs sound like nice fish.I will get some practice with this tank and then upgrade to bigger tank soon.then use 13 gal for quarantine. :)

TBH I don't think any plecs are really suitable for that tank, being a hex with small surface area. I'd go for....

3 bronze cories, pygmy cories are even better
And either...
A small shoal of tetras, can't remember which type is the smallest
OR
5-6 rasboras
OR
4 or so male platies, guppies or swordtails. Only get male, I'm sure you don't want hundreds and hundreds of babies in there, do you.

i agree with Oohfeeshy!Corys are a better size for that tank especially as it is a hex!!!

looks like that bigger tank will have to come sooner than later.really took a shine to plecs. :) but back to hex tank .Just got a bubble disk.do you no if it goes under the gravel or on top it seems to float a bit.sorry if that seems like a dumb question. And one more dumb question can you have to many bubbles :D

Many of the commonly sold species of plec get to be 12"-18" and would require a 100 gallon tank, possibly more. If you got a 20 gallon (long), you could small plecs like a bristlenose or rubbernose etc.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you mean with the bubble disk but I can tell you that the bubbles shouldn't cause any problems for your fish. :)
