OK, I was thinking....

4 bronze cories or other cory
1 larger gourami or 2 small ones (eg, dwarf)

And....
Well. THis is what I need to figure. The choice is either-
6 tetras of some description
3 platies-1 male 2 female (I need to figure out what I will do with hte fry, f not all male/all female
OR female bettas.... How many if I go with them?

Its 18US gallons. Any similar or better suggestions welcome!

I'd go with the Tetras as they just look so nice!

I wouldn't go for a Betta. They can be very aggresive with Gouramis

The bettas might show aggression and the platy will definately over-run you with fry! I think the safest choice would be some sort of schooling fish, maybe neons or rasboras.

Instead of Dwarf gourami, I would go for honey gourami, less teratorial and wont fight to the death. DG's will fight in that tank and you will end up with one anyway.

Platties are best, female bettas CAN be delicate.

Ok, one DG or two honeys, some tetras (small ones) and three male platies. Thats my choice, not yours.
