I read that it is good to over-stock/crowd African Cichlids, as this spreads aggression and does not allow for the head fish to beat on one particular fish.

What do you avid Cichlid owners think about/have experience with this?

And does adding a little salt boost their color and make them spawn a little more often?

Be very careful, environment is the issue. That is all I can say!
 
I have quite a bit of rocks and wood in my tank, and even a lot of plants...so there are a lot of places for them to go.

I'd say no more than 7 fish in your 29 gallon.


Generally it's a good idea to overstock to disperse aggression. Pics of your 29?? :snap:

If you click on the My 29 Gallon in my sig your can see some old pics. I only had a couple of fish in there at that time.

I have a lot of rocks and some wood in there now, so I will have to upload some more recent pics here soon so you guys can see the new setup.
