Wow - got some thinking to do!

Will gravel be ok for cichlids mentioned?

Aslong as its smooth it should cause any problems but i would go for sand.

Its 5-6mm pea gravel and most of it is smooth and rounded. Just rubbed some in my hands as well and it appears fine.

I know what your saying about sand but i have 45kgs of the gravel in the tank 31 days into fishless cycling so wont be changing it!
But i dont want to keep any fish that may get injured either.

It should be fine then. I just personally prefer the look of sand and think it look more natural but either will work. What about doing a sand gravel mix? that way they get the best of both and it normally looks great and natural.
