I'm beginning the planning stages of setting up a new centre piece tank (my housewarming present for our new home once we buy one - hopefully soon!)... I want it to be really special so its going to take some time deciding on the spec... its going to be somewhere between 260-300l (approx 65-80 USgs) and heavily planted.

As far as fish go I know I want angels and gouramis (thanks to help I received on here) but I’m wondering about maybe a larger shoaling fish which would of course have to be peaceful enough… any suggestions of species that would be suitable would be great, I’m really looking for something that’s a little bit unusual…

As far as the tank goes I was looking at the Jewel Rio 300 or Vision 260… however I know I would have to modify the lights and add extra filtration… its the idea of the modern setup with cabinet that I like…does anyone have any recommendations for setups that come with better features???

Any help would be great!!!

Many Thanks

Helen

thanks for the suggestion!

hadnt thought about discus... to be honest i dont really know alot about them...

would they mix well with the angels and gourami??

Well discus are better off alone or with cardinal tetras.
Angels: May have parasites they can handle but discus cant...
Gouramis: Don't really like the hot temparatures, that the discus require...

I'm liking that idea!

A shoal of 6/8 do you think??

Also i was wondering....i have some bleeding heart tetras which would probably appreciate some more companions and the extra space... do you think they would suit aswell??

A shoal of 6/8 would be great. Congo Tetras have a beautiful irredecent purple, blue, green, yellow, and orange hue. They look great swimming around flashing their colors.

I have had Bleading Heart Tetras and I don't know if they can take the bullying of Angel fish. Might work for you so I would give it a try :)
