My new 47 gal column tank is about to complete fishless cycling and I'm ready to start talkin' fish. I've done a lot of reading, but am getting confused by all the choices and what effects having so much of my water volume in a tall column, rather than side-to-side, might have on my stocking plan. The kids don't care - they just want lots of color. I'm thinking peaceful, small, colorful community fish with some corys and maybe a couple of shrimp. Need some help with specifics after that. Our tap water pH is about 8.0.

Ideas??

wouldn't go for corys as they sometimes gulp air at the surface. they hit surface at a rate of speed aswell,

quite a distance to go in a column.

i go for a few angels, the height is good for them and the a mixture of mid sized community fish :)

What are it's dimensions?

30" high, 20" wide, 18" front to back
5 Dwarf neon rainbows, 5 male guppies & 5 cories.

Thiis tank will not support as many fish as it's volume suggests due to it's height but it could eventually hold about 30" of small fish so five of each type will be easy to maintain.
