Stocking Suggestion For 420 Litre Tank

Hi guys any suggestions for my new 420 litre tank, was looking in getting malawis any suggestion?

Hi there thank you for replying, not to sure to be honest but been to local maidenhead aquatics were i have bought the tank from and really like the malawis. But not to sure which ones. Any help will be much appreciated as iv got a £1100 pound tank empty.

Well its all about personal choice really do you want to go with the haplochromis species which are the larger more open water fish of lake malawi or mbuna which are the species that are classed as the 'rock dwelling' fish, basically means they love the rockwork where they can retreat to, use for breeding and call it their own. If i where you id do some research on each, collect photo's and knowledge and have a good think about it. Then maybe come back here and post the stock list your thinking about and we can see what will work well, what wont and what other options there is. It's quite hard just to throw some species of fish out in the open if you haven't decided on which group your looking at. Some people do tend to mix the two (mbuna and haps) but it isn't recommended

just look ever thing up before you buy as i now have 7 nimbochromis venustus and these grown to some thing like 10inc guy at the shop saw me coming !!!
said they were a great starting place for my tank now looks like i will have to move some on or get a much bigger tank to keep them all


i am trying to say just google the hart out of ever thing

just have to be careful at MD cose peterborough and crowland store saw me as a walking wallet !!!!!

Have you got a picture of the tank? Sounds like the same one as mine, be interested to know as i'd like to do an mbuna setup sometime in the distant future
