Just got a 60x 30cm tank, 40cm high -looking for ideas.. Would like to stock with cichlids.

Currently have one handsome 12cm male convict in another tank, hoping to get him a female, If I separated the tank with plants, rocks etc into two halves with separate breeding/hiding caves what other cichlids can I have (maybe another breeding pair)?

Is it OK to have cory or bristlenose cats with cichlids?

A bristlenose will be fine. NOt sure about another pair of cichlids, espically with breeding convicts.

The tank is only 19US Gallons so you would be at your max stocking with just two convicts,
In such a small tank aggression would be heightened so I wouldn't consider adding anything else,

Alternatively you could keep the Male as a centrepiece and then add a shoal of larger danios or barbs and a bn

OK forget the convicts. What if I had Malawi or dwarf cichlids instead -how many and what type can I have? Really like and want cichlids, preferaly colourful ones. Pity they are all so agressive!

Malawi cichlids are a no go as the tank is so small,

However a pair of Apistos or Bolivian Rams would work with some dithers and bottom feeders
