I am about to start stocking my tank and would really appreciate some help on how to go about it, I am starting with 2 infant clowns, how long after this would you recommend adding more fish, I would also like to have a wrasse, watchman goby and possibly a false gramma, (would like royal but have been told they are bit iffy). Could, after adding clowns, I add 1 fish a week.
Sorry, one last thing would a coral beauty be to big to have in nano (128L)?

All and any help appreciated :good:

Hi,

I'm not sure about when to add. I do know that the slower you go, the better it is. When you add a new fish, first the ammonia processing bacteria grows and then the nitrite processing bacteria and eventually the nitrate processing bacteria.

I've been told that a coral beauty will be fine in my tank (about 109 liters). However, if you add corals in the future it may take a nip at them.

Thank you for your reply. I will bear that in mind regarding coral beauty, as I do want to have coral later. :good:

Hi,
Clownfish can be territorial even moreso with age. Stick to Amphiprion ocellaris or Perc's as others will get too large.
They really do pack a nasty nip. (You'll experience this for yourself shortly).
Acclimatise your fish slowly and add the most part straight away (due to the clownfish traits) Then wait untill all the bacterial functions deal with that large bioload. Waterchange regularly.
I use the airline drip method to acclimatise my charges (corals, fish, inverts etc)
Airline is used to syphon water from the main tank into the rectacle (B&Q small plastic paint kettles, white) and an Algarde airline clamp is applied to the end to control the drips.
1 -2 hours acclimatisation is what I use as a rule of thumb.
