Stocking Options for 20 Gal Tall

Hello

I've been preparing on stocking a 20 gal tall, and wanted some suggestions on what fish to stock it with. I have my eyes on a dwarf gourami along with a school of neon tetras, but I'm not sure if this would be overstocking the tank or not, I would love to add some more variety then what I have above, but I'm pretty new to the hobby so I'm not completely sure what to do. (the tank is heavily planted with lots of hiding spots by the way)

It would help us if we knew the water parameters of your source (tap) water. GH is general or total hardness, which is important for most fish species. And the pH is worth knowing. You should be able to track down the parameters from your water authority, check heir website.

Cories and loaches should have a sand substrate, so that may impact things. We can work that out once we know the hardness.

Hm, I get my water from a private well that only provides for our neighborhood, I'll have to look into that a little more, I've tested the pH myself several times before, each time it was about 7.1. I'll try to get the GH but cant guarantee it right now. I'll be stopping by my LFS this afternoon, is this something they could test? Thanks in advance.

Most LFS should be able to test for hardness - take a sample of tap water and ask them to test it for GH and KH. Make sure they give you numbers rather than vague words, and also the unit of measurement. There are around half a dozen units for GH, it's worse than litres and gallons!
