Hey,

I'm in the middle of setting-up a 240L Juwel aquarium. I've purchased an external filter that is perfect for it as well as the one thats already built in.

I was looking to keep mbuna, I've been told that overstocking is a way to reduce aggression but what would your suggestions be? Its four feet long.

There is also plenty of ocean rock at both ends of the aquarium with open space in the middle.

Thanks

The best way to keep them is higher numbers of less species. So if you planned say, 20 fish (an aproximation of stocking levels for this size of tank) then it's better to go with 5 each of 4 species or 4 each of 5 species. With a couple of exceptions they need to be kept in harems. Overstocking is one way of reducing aggression that will only work if it's combined with other methods, including not mixing species too close in relationship or looks, keeping appropriate gender ratio's, and matching temperments as best as possible.

At this point you have pretty much any mbuna in the lake as a possibility. The best thing to do is find a few species that you like and list them. Then we can sort out what would be compatible and what would be most suitable for your tank.
