Hellooo Me again :)

I am so pleased with how my tank is performing, and my fish are looking great.

I have a 50 litre tank and so far I have got in it:

2 golden sucker loaches
5 Cardinal tetra
2 Danios

I was hoping to add a couple more fish to complete it but not certain what, if anything I can add now. I was kind of hoping I could have a couple of guppies.

your help and advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Kaye

Uh oh, I think I may have spot a problem with the stocking. The golden sucking loach might be just a fancy name for a chinese algae eater. Try googling "chinese algae eater" and see if they pictures match your golden sucking loaches.

The problem with these fish is that they are very aggressive when they mature and grow quite large and isn't suited for a 50 liter tank. They might end up killing your other fish when they grow older and if there are larger fish, they will latch onto it and suck the slime coating and damage the scales and may even wound them. But this is assuming that the ones you have are CAE.

 They do indeed closely resemble the pictures of the chinese algea eaters

So now I am really cross with my LFS - how can they sell me these without telling me they are going to be aggressive - especially since I spent quite a bit of time outlining my plans for a larger tank with more fish.

Can I make them take them back? Will they take them back?

so now even more help needed with my stocking please

If I keep the 5 cardinals and the 2 danios what else would be good to go with them?

Thanks for pointing that out to me - how can lfs be so remiss

I am not sure if your LFS will take them back or not. You're probably going to have to ask them if they will.

Well there are a lot of fish that would be compatible with them. Just do some research on the fish you're interested in before you buy them.
I would add some corydoras, but it really is your choice what to add. :)

My LFS will take any fish that have outgrown your tank or that you can no longer keep in exchange for store credit.
