40 gal overfiltered(no fish,sandy bottom,plenty of hiding/plants)
completly cycled (0 ammonia,0 nitrites,10ppm nitrates,ph 8.0,temp 80,1.002 SG-slowly going into brackish)
will make habitiat perfect for them 8)

2 figure 8's
2 flounder/sole
4 bumble bee gobies

currently snails are breeding for the f8s
buying food for everyhting today bloodworms, freeze dried krill, shrimp, clams, brine shrimp frozen

any suggestions if this work?, am i ready?

I dont know about the flounders, but the Fig8's will be very happy with all that space :)

my only thing would be to add some caves for the BBG's. Other than that make sure its cycled fully and that the water in the tank matches the water in the shop.

i certinly will add caves,as for the flounders im gonna try them and see if it works if not i can always find a new home, and i will be upgrading the tank to a 55 in maybe a few months, i believe puffs deserve lots of room

by all means buy another tank if you wish but a 40g is sufficient for what you have listed especially with lots of filtration

well my thoughts were i eventually want a marine tank and i know fig 8s can go into marine, so im gonna do that and just get more flounders and more gobies for the brackish 40gal

No they can't. They are freshwater fish in the wild but do best in lightly brackish water in home aquaria,

You may be thinking of Green Spotted Puffers or maybe Ceylon puffers which can go marine when adult.

But i wouldnt mix either of these with Bumble Bee Gobies as they will become dinner.

If this was me, I'd aim for choosing livestock happy around 1.010. Flounders/soles mix really nicely with small hermit crabs, of which the blue-leg hermit crab is cheap and easy to obtain (as a reef critter). Utterly natural community mixing these two species, as both flounders and hermits are very common on open sandy lagoons. Add a bunch of shells and some clumps of algae covered rock here and there, and a dead nice sandy bottom community. You could add pretty much any sort of small goby, too. Puffers are part of the community, but figure-8s aren't ideal at SG 1.010, though they'll do well under such conditions. The downside though is they'd eat the hermits plus any snails you added, like zebra nerites.

Cheers, Neale
