Just curious what sort of stocking levels you guys would use? I don't use the inch per gallon rule, as 55 neon tetras in a 55g are probably under stocking a tank then overstocking it, whereas an adult Oscar (minimum tanksize often stated as 55g) would be borderline overstocking.

So say it was a 55g, what sort of stocking guys would you guys use? Ie how many small fish an inch or below per how many gallons, how many fish about 2 inches per how many gallons etc.

Just using a 55g as it's a common size that many people keep, and gives leeway for some of the larger fish up to about 12 inch.

Ah well, was just curious

in a 55gal i only use the inch per gallon rule for medium sized fish, small tetras i don't worry about too much, and larger fish i think depends on wether they are aggressive or produce alot of waste and adult size but i prefer to understock them.
but then there are small fish which are aggressive and need more space than 1 inch per gallon and others that are aggressive like some malawi cichlids that are better to overstock, but to overstock i would over filter too.
Depends alot on the type of fish imo
