Hello everybody. I'm currently cycling my 10 gallon tank. I am going to add 5 flame tetras, 2 mystery snails, and 1 ghost shrimp. This leads up to my question. Is there room for a platy? I really want one but I'm not sure if there is enough room. I'm not even sure if they can be kept in singles either. I hear they can get up to 3 inches. Is 3 inches common or uncommon? If I would get one I would buy a red-wag platy.

Thanks in advance. :)

Good afternoon and welcome! :good: Yes, platies can get that big. My neice has one that is about 2.5". You might be ok with a platy as long as you keep up with water changes. I'm not sure about the flame tetras. I haven't kept them before.

Thanks. I actually enjoy water changes so I wouldn't mind doing an extra one each week. I heard that Flame Tetras get a max of 5 centimeters but I'm expecting a little more just in case. :)

Thanks for your reply. :D

I just looked up the flame tetra and they do look compatible with the platy. As long as you enjoy water changes, there shouldn't be a problem. I also look fordward to water changes. My family thinks I'm nuts!

 Yeah there's just something about them that I like. I'm not even sure what. :D

Thanks for your help it's really appreciated. :)
