We just got a new 40gallon tank (36x13 inches) and I'm looking for suggestions as to what kind of fish to stock it with. We still have a beautiful clown pleco that has survived fron our old tank and I want to transfer it to the new tank. What other fish would you recommend to stock it? I'm hoping to have it planted with real plants, but for now I have fake ones in it. I have a really nice piece of driftwood that we bought, plus an old piece that the pleco has claimed from the old tank. I wanted sand for a substrate, but my husband really wanted a natural fine gravel so that is what is in it for now.

Thanks! Looking forward to your suggestions!

The more natural look would be the sand, not the gravel. I would suggest Tetras or Angelfish for your tank, since you already have the pleco, which is used to warmer tropical reuirements. For other catfish you could have a small school of pictus catfish (Pimelodus pictus) or flagtail porthole catfish (Dianema urostriatum).

It depends on what kind of tank you like, really. Do you want one big fish or lots of small ones? Timid, or swimming around everywhere all the time? These will help us pick because there really is a lot of fish that will go with a pleco. :)
