hi, i have a 20 gallon freshwater well planted tank about one and a half months old with a male betta and 5 cardinal tetras in. i would like a couple of larger fish say about 3 inches long, i like the look of silver sharks but heard they get too big. Any suggestions?

I don't have any specific suggestions, but what I do is go to my LFS and look at the fish they have that I like, write down the names, and come home and research them.

Sharks will get too big, though. You'll also need to be careful because of the betta; they don't usually get along with others very well. Anything too fast and zippy might nip his fins, and anything with long flow-y fins might look too similar to the betta and cause him to attack the flow-y fish.

yes i am choosing carefully, just a shame when some fishies wont get along together!

I know exactly what you mean. Then again, I have found that ultimately it enriches the hobby, because it makes you think about why fish have evolved in certain ways that makes them incompatible with each other, "where are you coming from" sort of thing.

My suggestion would be a small group of bronze corydoras.
