Hello quick question if some one would help please.

I have a 67 litre tank, external filter ect so its well filtered.

Just wondered if this stock would work (tank is fully cycled and the platys have been living very well in there)

3 platys (been in a while)
2 algae shrimp (want to purchase)
1 red claw crab (hes been in a while)
6 neons (been there a while)
2 african dwarf frogs (want to purchase)
1 siamease fighter (want to purchase)

and quite a few trumpet snails i put in last week, do you think this would work im not sure if the fighter would bother any of the other fish, can some one help please :hyper:

Well, platys should have a one male to two, perferably three female ratio I hope you know.

2 algae shrimp I'm assuming amano shrimp-ok
red claw crab, common name don't know but most fw crabs are either brackish or will eat your fish but there are a few so google it and look.

african dwarf frogs good but make sure the dwarf not clawed.

I'm not sure on the fighter, best to ask that in the betta board though they usually do best by themselves

ATM is right, Bettas are best kept on their own. Putting one in with the neons, it's likely to get it's fins nipped.

Are ok.

Well the crab is very peacefull hes been in there a while now and doesnt bother any fish ect just eats snails and keeps to him self really.

My friend has a fighter with neons who seems to do fine.

I just want something nice and colourfull or unusual as a centerpiece not sure what though hmmmmmm.

Not sure but a dwarf gourami might work but since they are in the same family as the betta it might not work, you can post a questions in tropical chit chat for a center piece, just don't buy anything without research. Google

Bettas and livebearers usually don't work. The betta tends to mistake them for a rival and attacks it. Also, just because your friend could have a betta with neons, doesn't mean you will be able to, too. It would be best if you had a cycled tank you could put the betta into if you had any problems. Overall, though, I wouldn't even bother with the betta. Also, the crab will probably kill the frogs if it's big enough. Or any other fish that sleep on the bottom.

Do a Google search on Rainbow Fish there's lots of really beautiful ones, that would be much better than a Betta and make a beautiful centre piece - get a group of 1 m & 2 f, many of the females are just as pretty as the males.

I wouldn't get a Dwarf Gourami as they're in the same family as a Betta and will most likely fight. In fact I wouldn't get the Betta unless you're going to put him in his own tank, there's really not very many fish that they get along with!

I'd be really careful with the crab too, they can turn nasty at the drop of a hat and eat everyone!

ok cheere people i wont bother with the beta then, as for the crab hes been living with 5 chinease loaches ( soon to go into a bigger tank) for a long time and doesnt even bother with them in the least he just really isnt very agressive at all.

the betta might act aggressivly towards the platies or get his fins nipped by the neons.the platies should be in the ratio of 1 males per 2 females.the amano or algea eating shrimp will be fine in your tank, it eats algea and leftovers.it requires hiding places to retreat to when moulting or scared.not sure about the crab as ive never has one. ive heard they can catch and eat fish, but if you say hes fine in their, then its your choice.the 2 frogs will also go well, they can be hard to feed untill a technique is found, and the crab might eat one or hurt one with its claws if he can catch one.
