So I'm going to be getting my first fish tank soon and I need some help on stocking. It's 70 x 35 x 40cm. I've been on aqua advisor to see how many fish I can fit in my tank and it says it is 74% stocked but tbh I think it's overstocked. I need some suggestions on fish I could keep and how many as I can't seem to find anything accurate. Here is the list of fish I wanted to keep:

5 Platy (all females)
1 Dwarf Gourami
3 Lyretail Killifish
2 Peacock Gudgeons

I know these fish probably aren't compatible with eachother as I haven't really researched them but I just wanted to see how many would fit. I definatley want some platies and I would like to have a dwarf gourami too but if none of these fish would be suitable for my tank then I will choose some more. Thanks.

The first question that needs to be answered is what are your tap water parameters? ph and hardness? It helps to choose fish that are best suited for your tap water conditions, because it means less tampering with things.

I've seen the website you are talking about, and to be honest, I'm not sure that it is as helpful as it is intended to be. I certainly wouldn't put too much stock in it, as there are far more variables involved than what you input into the site.

Aquavisor is a good site if you want to see if everyone in your tank is compatible, and what the needs are of certian fish. I find it to be a little too cautious. Just my opinion. I use it if I am setting up a new tank and need a little direction.

I'm not too sure about the water as I don't have the test kits or anything yet but I think the pH is 7 and Thames Water tells me I have DH 14.2 :)

Yeah I'm going to get one but I'm still convincing one of my parents that this is a good idea (;

yea, convincing mom and dad can be difficult. Good Luck! But it is a very important piece of equipment so try your best.
