Hello all,

Lurked here for a couple of weeks to try and glean some tips, but find my self making my first post to try and solve my current predicament:

Due to a combination of my inexperience, helping out a neighbour, and some questionable advice from the LFS, I am in a position of what I now Know to be a an overstocked tank (60ltr), with a few incompatibilities.

7 x Guppies (males)
4 x Neons
3 x Penguin tetras
3 x Plattys
2 x Dwarf Gouramis
1 x Pakistani (yoyo) loach
1 x RTB Shark
1 x Upside down catfish
1 x Betta
1 x Plec

The one thing that tank does have going for it, is that it is well filtered, and regularly cleaned + water changes etc. It is also a fairly established tank (just over 6 months).

Now I need to find a new home for a few of these, and I was hoping to be getting a new larger second tank in the near future, but finances have scuppered that plan, so I am going to have to see if the LFS will help me out with a few of these (unless anyone near Brum is interested)

So, firstly, the RTB has to go (shame as he is probably my fav) but I think he has already grown too big for this tank, and his tank mates. Likewise, this community isn’t suitable for the betta

Assuming those two go to a new home, I would appreciate any comments / suggestions on what else I should do to bring this tank to an acceptable stocking level?

I know the platties are not for sale but i could take them off your hands... i cannot havd the shark nor any room at moment for the betta. could u post the fish atall this might help people

What plec is it? chances are that is the other fish that needs a new home. Also the Yoyo Loach and Upsidedown catfish.

Personally I'd cut down to one type of tetra and have 8 of this one type and rehome the platties unless they are all male.

With that done you'd probably get away with adding 4 corydoras.

Thanks for the replies

I don't know about the plec, i can post a pic later, and the platties are all male.

What you have suggested defiantly makes sense, and I do like Corys, so glad you said that ;)

Thanks for the offer, will have to discuss the above option with the other half, as the platties where her choice for the tank. Not sure about posting fish? I will let you know if I go that route and maybe it will be possible
