Hey all this is my first post here i have been searching around allot looking at different topics. I've had a tropical communty tank (10g) for about 8 months now and ive done very well with it. i love the hobby i purchased a new 50gallon tank last month i have it all cycled and have added fish from my smaller tank as i am going to use the smaller to house a blue lobster. Im very happy with my fish so far but need advise to Finnish my stocking.

So far i have.
4 tiger barbs
2 blue gourami's
2 gold gourami's
4 Red Minor Serpae Tetra
1 prawn

I was thinking of adding a few silver dollars and a shoal of 20 or so neon tetras.

any advise? what would you add i would really like to add moer color to my tank....as much color as i can

How many Silver Dollars did you want? You'll need a group of them otherwise they will be skittish!!!

even though silver dollers arnt predaators they will more and likely eat your neons when the dollers get bigger

I was thinking about adding 5 silver dollars. but i would much rather have the neons than the dollars....
are there any fish similar to neons that are bigger so they wont be eaten? i really want a large shoal of fish to school around the tank

Cardinal tetras are very similar to neons, but slightly bigger and with more red in the stripe. None of the fish you have now should be able to eat them, and gouramis tend to be relatively peaceful.

You will need more barbs though. They have a tendency to start picking at other fish when you keep them in very small groups, so another 3 or 4 barbs would be best.

And you should up the Serpae tetras to at least six.

Pretty much all tetras , danios ect like to be in groups of 6-8 or more, preferably more. It makes them feel safer and they behave more normally and display to eachother which is always interesting to watch I find.

neons do best in an established tank dont forget, so iof i were u, id wait a lil longer b4 u get neons! what about albino corys, there v. pretty and fun to watch! also, german blue rams for their colour! just a few examples lol!

i actually just got two german blue rams tonight!

i went to my lfs and was talking to my friend sam who works therehe had a new shipment of great looking jumbo rams i had to grab two. i will go with the cardinals as soon as all my fish settle in. ill also add a few more barbs and two more tetras.. thats allot of fish! thanks for all the great feedback!
