Hey peeps, i have been keeping bettas for a year now and have tried them with different things etc but just wanted to see what your thoughts were with the following stokcing?

It is for my last OAP betta Zippy who is a sweetheart, he currently lives with pygmy cories. I wish to move him into a 96 litre cube tank that contains more cories and will be having lampeyes normani and possibly galaxy rasbora.

I know he will be fine with the corydoras as have tried him with two species before and he has been a gentle soul. He hasnt been tried with lampeyes but another of my boys who was fiesty and bad tempered faired well with them and so think he should be ok with these. The real question I suppose would be with introduction of the galaxy rasbora as have not had these before myself and uncertain of their behaviours and interactions. Any thoughts on these would be appreciated..(also say possibly as had found a source close to home that had homebred these but he keeps forgetting to email me back so we will see).

Thanks very much for any help given.

Lampeyes and Galaxies are peaceful little fish and should be fine with your betta, but if you're unsure of his reaction to them, then the best way to go about the whole thing is to make sure all your other tankmates are added first and settled, and when you come to introduce the betta, get yourself one of those cheap floating guppy breeding nets.

Keep him in the net for at least a week. That way he can see his new home and adjust to it over a longer period of time , and also see the other fish and interact with them through the net without being able to get to them. If he goes mad with all the flaring and carrying on, then you can remove him back to his old tank with no damage to the other fish.

And of course make sure the tank is heavily planted so everybody can hide and have a place to get away from eachother.

Brill thanks Honeythorn. The tank is chuck full of live plants so that is good. Great idea on the trap idea. Will try this and see how his reaction goes to fish on his level :good: Thank you

Sounds like you're going to have a lovely set up ^^
I'd love to see pictures once you've got everyone settled? :D

Thanks Flute of course! Currently there are: 5 habrosus corydoras (very active little things), 5 panda cories (growing), 2 lamp eye fry, and todays introduction 8 galaxy rasbora. Next introduction are new lamp eyes so should be looking good (I hope!) Will try to get a current situation pic tomorrow. i love pics! lol
