I lucked out and got a great 3ft flat back hex tank off craig's list for a song last week and I'm trying to decide who should go there. I am interested in your thoughts on this arrangement.

2 rams (either german or bolivian)
2 angels
3 apistos (trifasciata)
small shoal of dither fish the angels can't swallow.

It will be eco complete and heavily planted like my amazon biotope tank (soon to be stocked)with multiple caves and bogwood. The gnu told me in a previous post that my ph should be okay and to just watch my nitrates. Thanks, by the way for all your good advice.

I'm thinking about either macmasteri, trifasciata or cacatuoides. I'm not really interested in breeding anyone, but I want the fish to be happy. I was wondering if having all females, or males of a species might keep the tension down. Also, many people here mention having just one apisto. Is this an option? Would Bolivian rams be better than the germans at keeping the peace because they are bigger? I'm new to these guys and want to learn. I figured that since the things I've been reading describe trifasciata and macmasteri as very peaceful and placid respectively that they'd be better candidates. Also, I figured that since the rams were sub strata spawners and the apistos cave spawners that territorial issues might be lesser? If I am way off course, please advise. I haven't even begun to cycle this tank yet. I'm still at the research stage. Thanks for your help!

Sorry, I forgot to mention it's a flat back hex, not a 3 ft tall one. I think it's 33 gal. (I am fish experienced, just not very chiclid experienced. I do realize all those bottom dwellers need the length!) Also, if the apisto harem or even just one is a flat out bad idea, I can always do something else. This is just research right now. Thanks for your advice.

Anybody? I guess it should work based on some of the reading and online research I'm doing, but I was hoping for your guys personal experience.
