I am currently changing aroung my Juwel Rio 300 litre tank from cichlids to a planted setup. The tank is 121x51x62cm.
I am wanting to have a few shoals of largish fish rather than lots of different species of smaller fish.
The plans for stocking are
4 plecs (Starlight Bristlenose 5", Rusty 7", Imperial Ranger 6" and Chocolate Zebra 3"). These are all pretty much fully grown.
6 Denison's Barbs (aka Redline Torpedo Barbs or Roseline Sharks)
3 Siamese Algae Eaters
5 Boesemani Rainbowfish
6 Congo Tetras.
I have read fairly widely on here and the fish appear to be compatible. Does anybody have any actual experience of keeping some or all of these fish together?
In terms of filtration I have the Juwel internal filter (1000lph) and an Eheim Classic 2213 (440lph) and I would be performing 25% weekly water changes.
Do you think that this tank would be at about the right stocking levels? The water would be being turned over about 5 times an hour, which seems about right.
I am planning on planting quite heavily so hopefully plant growth would help to reduce nitrate levels too.
If anybody can recommend any other fish that would perhaps suit this setup that would be helpful. I have also lookes at Scissortail Rasboras and Trifasciatus Rainbowfish.
I'm pretty set on this stocking really and just want to make sure that the filtration would be able to cope.
