this is what i have -

25G Bowed Tank
6 Dalmation Mollies
3 Guppies
3 Platies
2 Peppered Corys
1 Pleco
1 Male Betta
1 Silver Shark

How many more fish could comfortably live in the tank?

You already have about 28inchs of fish not including the plec and silver shark and the silver shark is realy not suited to your tank and will outgrow it if what im told is true.

male bettas and guppies are a terrible set up, as well as mollies and bettas. The shark and pleco will get to big, so you really should remove them.

I agree, although when it comes down to it, male bettas don't do well in community setups at all unless with very peaceful fish which is what Allix doesn't have...

I am hoping to move the better into his own 5 gallon tank

As for the rest of them ... we are moving to our new house in January and will have a 3 foot tank.

The pleco and the shark are about 2-3" big at the moment, how fast do they grow?

I was hoping the pleco wont get full size untill we move into our own house and get a bigger tank :/

Im not sure on sharks max size, but it how fast the plec will grow depends on what type it is but i take yours is either a sailfin or common plec as these are the most commonly available, check out

For more info.
Most plecs will grow 1inch per month, common plecs will reach about 12inchs while sailfins will reach 18+.

Bala sharks (silver sharks) grow quite quickly and a 3 footer won't be enough. They need a 125 gallon minnimum and are a schooling fish so the minnimum number you should ever keep is 3. They can get to about 14". You have to re-home this fish with others of its kind in a suitably large tank.

If the pleco is a common, it can get to 18". The same applies to sailfin/gibbiceps plecs which are also quite often available. They grow very slowly though so you have time before it needs to be moved.

The betta, though they shouldn't be with male guppies, can be kept in a community provided it won't be out-competed or nipped. I would actualy say it would be ok with all but the guppies and the silver shark (silver sharks, as I said, are big schooling fish and so are easily made nervous which can lead to all sorts of problems when it comes to a small, long-finned fish - they are also very fast when it comes to competing).

Can I also say that actualy you have more than 28" of fish (even without the silver shark and plec) as each molly will potentialy grow to 4" (a lot of people under-estimate their potential size) and that's already 24" of fish! That's realy all you should have in your tank strictly speaking (though provided you maintain the tank well and do your weekly water change and gravel vac. and have good filtration the platies - 1.5", guppies - 1" for males, up to 2" for females - and cories - peppered get to 3" - are just about ok). I don't count the betta as you said you're moving him soon.

He is a sail fin .... oops.

I know i have bought him, and should have researched into how big he will get ... but there was nothing up in the fish shop and they even asked me how big my tank was and told me it was plenty big enough!
