Hi all

I am going to be setting up a fresh water community aquarium at Christmas, I am thinking of a 90-100L Tank.

I would like to keep the following types of fish after research

Neon Tetra (I know they need to be in groups of 6 or more to be happy) but what I want to know can you keep a mixed verity of Tetra as a group?

I like Platy fish, swordtail and Fancy Guppies and after looking into them they are compatible? I know these questions may sound silly to some of you, I have researched but I haven't ever kept a Tropical tank before but do have some knowledge of how they should be kept.

when I visited a local shop I came across the elephant nosed fish, but I am i right in thinking that the tank would be too small to house one?

I'm not an expert but I have read that long finned Tetra shouldn't be mixed with short, as Tetras can be fin nippers and long fins are a little hard to resist. So you may want to think about which Tetras you want to mix carefully.

Thanks very much for that tip.

Regardless of the tank size, have a read here - http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=4506 aboout the elephant nosed fish.
Platy, Swords and Guppy will be fine together.

As i thought they wouldn't be a good choice. It is sad as I really like them, but I wont be getting one now as I have the fish's best interest at heart. I noticed Pets at home sell them now too! poor fish

Seeming as you may well be looking for a tank similiar in size to my larger tank, please see my signature for my current stocking. They all get along great together so feel free to ask any questions.

Terry.
