hi

i have a 35-40 litre tank and was wondering if this stocking would work?

-1 Betta

-2 dwarf pencilfish

-5 dwarf cories.

is this stocking OK.

could i add either 5 cherry barbs or some type of small tetra aswell

it sounds good. but no too the cherry barbs, there very very boisterous and theyll tear a betta fins to shreds, and also the neons will aswell.
the only feasible shoaling specie would be white cloud mountain minnows

A better idea would be to ditch the harlequins and add more dwarf cories ( Am I correct in thinking you mean pygmy cories? ) They tend to interact a lot better with larger groups, and look very good in a bigger gaggle all swimming together . Cories of any sort are very sociable and are also far less likely to be a cause of any fin nipping or hassle concerning your betta. The harlequins may be more problematic in that area.
