Hello.
Unfortunatly my Betta died of mouth rot, and i am quite sadened by it.
I dont want to leave the tank empty though, and i would like to give another fish a home.
I was wondering what i could have in a 5 gallon?
The tank has a mirrored back and is a 3 sided tank (half a hexagon). I have bought a fluval 1 filter which i was going to replace the sponge filter with (bought it off ebay the other day) so it will need cycling before hand.
So far i know that a puffer would be fine, but is there any others? I'd rather not have fish such as a few tetras etc as i want something unusual (oddball, but not rare... or just anything unusual) to go into it. I've already got shrimps in my other tank so they're out of the question.
Thanks guys!

Newts are a no no lol, plus they arent available at any LFS around by me. Thanks for all these suggestions though, i appreciate them.
Keep them coming if you have any more ;)
Thanks.

dwarf puffers yep.

That's a dwarf puffer, singular, not dwarf puffers, plural.

5g is barely big enough for one. If you tried two, one of them would be killed.

5g limits you to one dwarf puffer (although I wouldn't advise it)
or
One dwarf aquatic frog (not the clawed kind)
or
Three ottos
or
One male Betta
or
Some snails
or
Four cherry shrimp

That's about it.

Don't think about what can be kept in such a small space and think more about if it should.

Hmmm, I was going to say a crawfish/blue lobster. But I think they need more room than a 5 gallon; not sure -- someone on here, please help. Not another betta?

EDIT: SirMinion probably came up with all posibilities for a tank that small.

Yea i meant puffer.. singular as i've done the research on them already.
As for the can/should comment i'd have to say i agree with you. But from looking at the size of the tank in comparison to the puffer its very roomy.
Thanks for the other suggestions.
EDIT: Right guys.. thanks for all the suggestions. I think i'm probably stuck on a dwarf puffer now. Need to clean the tank out and buy some more sand for the susbtrate rather than gravel. Also waiting for the filter too arive.
