so having possable abandoned the amazon/ south american idea as it was mainly so i could get cockatoos chilids which ican't find anywhere i have son other ideas!

one a s. american commuinity and the otehr simple a home for a BGK

s. american

7 rams, 1 may 2 males rest female
7 hatchets
10/15 green neons

The first stocking plan would work if you went for just one pair of or maybe 2 of rams. 7 dwarf cichlids in a 40 gallon is not a good idea IMO. Plus you'd be over-stocked if you also put in the other fish you want after that.

I'm not sure about the 2nd but I think a BGK would eat the rams once it starts growing as they get to be around 20" (I'm also not sure a 40 gallon would be big enough but it depends on their activity level - I'd ask in the oddballs section or wait for someone who knows more about these fish to come along).
