as the topic suggests i have a 3 gallon (US) tank which i would like to stock, i was looking for some *interesting* fish or *unusual* fish which dont need a very large tank (no bettas), or maybe some crustations (shrimps ect.)? :/

African dwarf frogs
maybe an african clawed frog, not sure about min tank size for them
ghost shrimp
a guppy?
two adf's and an apple snail. maybe
3 gallon is pretty small so i'm not sure about what is acceptable

clawed frogs grow to like the size of your HEAD, so not them.

go for shrimps i say.

Get some ghost shrimps and a male guppy. Or some ghost shrimps/Cherry shrimps with an apple snail, though they do poop alot so you would have to do water changes.

WOW didn't know they got THAT big. sorry about that. No african clawed frogs

Can a dwarf puffer go with a betta?
Nothing can go with a puffer unless it's ok to be eaten.

I agree though, a dwarf puffer would be cute in that tank, you'd just have to make sure it's well filtered and keep up with water changes since they are messy

Personally I'd say 3G is just a bit small for a dwarf puffer, 5G really being the min. for 1. (2G isn't that much of a difference you say, but seeing as 2.5G which is only half a gallon off is half the size ... it is a pretty big difference).

I'd also say no to bumblebee gobies, they are very territorial so you wouldn't be able to keep more than 1 in a tank this size, and it's simply too small to go brackish on.

Eh, dwarf puffers aren't all that active (at least judging by the 2 I've had), so I think one would be fine in a 3 gallon as long as you really stay on top of the water quality, because as I said, they're messy.

Erised: ive been told by several people that bumbble bees are calm and gental. Isis has 3 in a 5 gal.

Arrowhead: dwarf puffers are quite mean for thier size and would kill a beta in no time along with any other fish. i personal have 2 in a 2 gal :*) even though i have done this i DO NOT suggest anymore than one DP in a 3 gal tank. i have gotten lucky with it so far but anyday i could wake up with one of them dead, though i havent seen a lot of aggression yet. anyhow DPs are cute little buggers with great personalities. if you are interested i can give you more info.
