Hi,

I've got a small cubic 25L tank in my bedroom which was previously grossly overstocked - have since moved all the fish to a bigger tank.
This little tank's really nice; it has a good Jager heater and an Eheim filter. I've got black volcanic sand on the bottom and a nice chunk of volcanic rock in there - looks fantastic! I'm putting it through a fishless cycle now.

What could I put in this tank? It's in my bedroom, so whatever goes in has gotta be somewhat impressive... gotta keep the ladies happy! :hey:
Even if I can put in a fish that will outgrow the tank... when he gets older I can move him to the big tank.

All ideas are welcome!

7g? Not much. Bettas, snails and shrimp are the best options IMO. A nice breed of Betta and a few shrimp and/or snails would look great. There are other options like shelldwelling cichlids but you'd be limited to one in an aquarium that small.

African Dwarf Frog. They're also compatible with Bettas, snails and shrimp. You could probably mix all of them in there at once for a nice little community. ADF's have poor eyesight though and usually need the food dropped almost in front of them to eat.

Mmm, very cool...
I like the idea of a frog (just found some recordings of their song... nice!), a nice betta and maybe something else - shrimp or a little catfish.
I think that a nicely coloured betta would look amazing against the black tank decor! It's actually kind of errie in this tank.. Because it's so small it's crystal clear, and the natral lava rock with the black sand looks spooky! I'll make sure I get a good photo once it's stocked.

Thanks for these ideas, I'm going to see whether any of my LFS's stock ADFs

Personally, I would get some sort of microrasbora. Thats just my taste :).

Just make sure you don't let that rock make the water too hard/ph too high. It sounds like it may be something that would do that. Not many species that would do well in a small tank appreciate hard water, including bettas. Shrimp would fine with it, though.

You should try to get a black betta to match the spooky theme, and maybe an ACF (African Clawed Frog) To stand out against the black!

Tetras shouldn't be in anything less than a 20 gallon long IMO. They need the swimming space.

Those are a small shelldweller and would work. I may get them myself in the future. Interesting little fish.
