i have 15g tank, 6 cherry barbs, 6 serpae tetra, 3 guppies, 1 golden sucking loach. i was wondering if i could add either a few more guppies or 1 female betta, i also have a 2.5 gallon tank and i was also wondering if i can add a male betta or some endlers will this be ok?

thanks

Errrmmm I wouldnt go too crazy with your 15g stocking, maybe a few more smaller fish would be ok :) annnd most people would concider 2.5 a bit small for a Betta, maybe shrimp?

I've never been a fan of overcrowding a tank. A 2.5 is good for a trio of guppies though, I'm doing that as I get ready to transition to all 5 gallon tanks. Then 2.5's will become fry tanks.

I woldn't add any more to the 15 though.

You could put endlers or a betta in the 2.5 as well.

3 guppies in 2.5g? Thats a bit cruel isnt it?! (This is where you'll see alot of different opinions :))

Hi Jodiem :)

I would consider your 15 gallon tank filled at this point, but the little tank you have gives you an interesting challenge.

The problem with the 2.5 gallon, and even with the 5 gallon size tank, is that it can be difficult to heat and filter them adequately to keep many fish. Scaled down equipment often cost as much, and sometimes more than, the price you would pay to equip a 10 gallon tank.

If you have a good cover for it, a betta or a couple of African Dwarf Frogs (Not African Clawed Frogs) would fit nicely.
Before you plan further though, I might suggest filling the tank and putting it where you plan to keep it. Test to see what the temperature is day and night. If it fluctuates much you will need a small, thermostat run, heater.

i have kept a few guppies in there before but i moved them to my 15g and i put a few whitespot cases in there, how do i clean the filter to get rid of any ledft over white spot (it has been in the shed for a few months) i do have a lid for it, should i invest in a 10g tank i have seen a few on the internet for only £20, some bettas in the shop look scruffy and raggy will their condition improve when they are settled

thanks for you help!
