i am hoping to get a new 240l tank (fluval roma 240)

i am open to any stocking idea. i would like some community but different fish as well, all nice brightly coloured etc

it will be well planted with simple plants and plenty of wood and open swimming spaces, with a fluval 405 external

i would like a range from large fish to small ones

however it must include 3 pitul plecos, 4 corys, 1 GBR

please just give me a list of everything you would like to have if it was your tank, i am open to any ideas

For that size tank, I'd consider using a Fluval 305 filter as the minimum size.

Typed at the same time as me Tom!
What other fish are available to you and what types of fish do you like?

yeah i have edited the original post.

i like anything really but dont want to have a complete community. i really like big shoals so one of them would be good.

i like discus' but i guess the tank is too small

would also like a few differernt fish. like odballs which my lfs sometimes have

One pair of Scleromystax Barbatus
4 Dianema Urostriatum
6 Charax Gibbosus

nice fish but i would like a few more then 12

and slightly more common ones, easier to get hold of i should say

I'd avoid the Scleromystax Barbatus as they prefer cooler water.
As drobbyb suggested, Dwarf Neon Rainbows are a stunning fish and very peaceful.
It really does depend on what you like as there are so many to choose from.
A big shoal of Tetras such as Cardinals/Glowlight/Black Neon would look great as would Harlequin Rasbora/Pentazona Barb/Honey Gourami.

ok, well to start with i will add a few more corys and plecos. and another gbr to make a pair

is it too small for some discus'?

I would have congo tetra because they are fab, beautiful colours but peaceful and active - 3 girls/2 boys
Boesemani's - same ratio as above
Lots of cories look great together so have 8 rather than 4, they really take comfort in these larger groups
Some top dwellers - maybe hatchetfish to fill the space or long fin danios as you have the length for them

thanks

im liking the look of angles. i could get like 3 couldnt i because they dont need to be in shoals.

also those boesemani's look great how many would be good?

Boesemani's 2 males 3 females
3 angels will be fine, get them from young unless they are already together

ok so one stocking configuration could be

5 boesemani's (2m, 3f)
3 angles what m,f ratio?
5 pitbull plecos
8 corydoras
2 german blue rams (1m,1f)

i think there some more room, any problems so far?

i like tiger barbs so prehaps 10 of them? maybe a few less

could i suggest odessa barbs as part of your community, they grow to around 3 inches and are very active, they do well in a group,i have 6 now and once settle in the colour in them is gorgeous
