hi all

im plannin on makin my 15 gallon tank ever a tetra tank or a female betta tank

wich do use think i should do???

thanx alot

Tetras. Bettas are beautiful fish, don't get me wrong, but there's an awful lot that can go wrong with bettas that isn't an issue with most tetras - namely to do with aggression. Also, you can put more tetras in a 15 gallon than bettas and you could even combine 2 species and/or make a realy stunning planted tank tetra community.

What sort of tetras were you interested in? I think black phantoms/black skirts are some of the best - especialy when it comes to character - I could watch the males displaying all day... Rummynose tetras are also beautiful. As are cardinals and neons, though these, especialy neons, can be very fragile.

Are you set on tetras? How about harlequin or spotted rasboras? Harlequins, especialy, are very tight-schooling and impressive fish. Golden dwarf barbs are also nice.
Any chance you'll get a school of cories instead :p ?

Many people have kept betta in community setups. I kept one in a 15 gallon long tank with a school of cardinals.

Of course - I have done so myself - it's just that this isn't a community tank so to speak. It would be a species tank for female bettas from what I understand and sometimes they can be aggressive towards one another and unpredictable. It's usualy easier to obtain compatible tetras as most bettas in shops are kept and sold seperately - even females - so suddenly putting them together can result in aggression. Also, if you cycle the tank with fish, you can add tetras few at a time. If you add bettas few at a time you'll get serious disputes every time a new one is added.

hi

thanx for the replys

i wouldnt mind a few schoolin fish

wat types go 2gether an how many of each could i hav???

thanx all

Most tetra are relatively safe together. Just make sure that you get enough that they don't get easily stressed.

I have harlequins and copper harlequins and they are a nice shoaling fish, have neon tetra's but don't shoal that much and black neons and they don't bother either.
