I have a 96 litre tank with Guppies Tetra Platys etc about thirty fish. Please tell me that I have not overstocked. Pete
 
I'm afraid you have.

96l is only about 20 gallons, so you'd be looking at approximately 20, one inch (adult size!) fish, to fully stock a tank that size.
 
Out of interest what filter are you using on the tank? and do you have any live plants?

Couldn't this also be considered as a function of area rather than simple gallon conversion? And 96l is more like 25 gal, not that that changes much be does alleviate some stress.

Yes, that's true; I actually always use surface area to calculate the approximate stocking levels in my own tanks.

I should have gone into more detail, perhaps.

I was using UK gallons, that's what my brain thinks in :blush:
