Hi All

Things settling down in my new tank now with only1 casualty (so far!) which was one of my corydoras.

Sadly I am wondering if my water type doesn't suit them.

I have readings of 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite and 40 nitrate. I know the nitrate is high and am going to do a large water change to bring down.

Ph is 8.2.

I have 5 platys that seem to like the setup and 4 corydoras for which I am beginning to have doubts.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fish that would thrive in these conditions?

I have a 190L Juwel Trigon

Thanks

nothing wrong with those nitrates, some of us get that straight out of the tap.

that pH is on the high side though, perfect of Mbuna cichlids.....but they are totally incompatible with your current stock. Mollies & swordtails like nice hard water, so they could be options......but maybe the platys will cross-breed with them (I'm not very knowledgeable with livebearers.)

Thanks

Pleased to hear my nitrates are not as bad as first thought!

Mbuna chiclids sound interesting are they hardy? Are they docile?

We have quite hard water here and I have been advised against trying alter the pH with chemicals etc.

Really liked the look of some Dalmatian mollies too.

if you are interested in Mbuna, then head over to the Old World Cichlid sub-forum. But you'd need to remove your existing stock should you decide to stock Mbuna.
