My 10 gal tank with livebearers smells really bad what can i do about it.

what sort of smell?

have you tested your water and if so what were they

kindof like dead fishbut i don't have any and haven't had any with this tank.

I called the LFS and they told me to do a 1/3 to 1/2 water change and to bring some water down with me for him to test. He said it also could have something to do with ammonia.

Mine smells a bit too but it smelt before I added any fish. The test results were fine.

take water to lfs they will tell ya if you cant dexcribe a smell!!!!!

I am taking some water from both of my tanks to the LFS later today.

I took the water samples to the LFS and my amonia was high in both of my tanks so i bought some c-100. I also bought two heaters and set them to 78F 25C on my community tank and 79-80F 26-27C. what i noticed today and found very funny is that my filter and heater are both whisper.

have to keep up on those water changes or the ammonia will sneak up on you liek it has

my tank smells sometimes but it always smells like lake water
